Liverpool are advancing in talks with Bayer Leverkusen to sign attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz, journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed.
The Premier League winners submitted an offer worth up to €130m (£109m) for the Germany international last week and remain determined to land him in the coming weeks, or even days.
Romano claims the two clubs are now discussing the structure of the deal and ‘all the solutions possible’, and there are expectations that an agreement could be reached fairly soon.
Wirtz is believed to have given the green light to an Anfield move this summer, despite interest from both Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.

Romano, speaking on his YouTube channel, revealed that Liverpool are progressing in their pursuit of Wirtz after submitting their €130m offer:
“I'm told that even during the weekend, Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen have been in contact.
“On the structure of the add-ons, on all the solutions possible to close this deal after €130m proposal on the table from Liverpool.
“So the conversation is advancing between Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen. My expectation has always been for a fast deal, not taking months or weeks.
“And this remains my expectation, speaking to sources, Wirtz is expected to join Liverpool.”
A move worth around €130m would make Wirtz Liverpool’s record signing, surpassing the £85m the Reds paid for Darwin Nunez in 2022.
Wirtz is coming off another impressive season in Germany, having scored 16 goals and provided 15 assists in 45 appearances across all competitions.
The attacking midfielder helped Leverkusen clinch their first-ever Bundesliga title last term but now appears set for a departure, alongside former teammate Jeremie Frimpong.
The Dutch full-back joined Liverpool for £29.5m on a five-year deal last week, becoming their first offseason signing, with both Wirtz and Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez expected to follow.
