Report: Newcastle target Marc Guehi simply not interested in move to another Champions League…

Marc Guehi looks to be in demand this summer.

Guehi is into the final year of his contract at Crystal Palace and remains of interest to Newcastle United.

Newcastle want to sign Guehi this summer, having seen a series of bids for him snubbed last year.

Despite rival interest from elsewhere, agents expect Guehi to sign for Newcastle.

Still, that doesn’t mean they’ll have it easy. An England international in the final year of his deal and potentially available relatively cheaply as a result, there’s surely going to be rival interest.

Chelsea and Real Madrid have also been linked with Guehi, so the 24-year-old certainly has plenty of options.

However, it seems a move to one Champions League club in particular does not appeal.

Marc Guehi does not want to join Tottenham

According to The Times, Guehi does not want to join Tottenham this summer.

Spurs bid £70million for Guehi in January and have Champions League football on offer despite a dreadful domestic season after they won the Europa League.

While the north London club remain keen to sign a new defender this summer, a trip across the English capital to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is not thought to be on Guehi’s agenda.

Crystal Palace were furious with Newcastle United over Marc Guehi

It was certainly a saga last summer as the Toon Army saw offer after offer rejected by the Eagles.

Now, senior Palace figures expect Guehi to be sold. As is seemingly always the case, however, that does not mean it’ll be an easy process from here.

Palace were furious with Newcastle sporting director Paul Mitchell last summer because of his approach to transfer talks, meaning a deal may be unlikely to happen while Mitchell remains in place.

Perhaps luckily for the Magpies, then, Mitchell is set to leave Newcastle at the end of June.

Hopefully, by that point, Newcastle will have have seen a development in their pursuit.
