Lavonte David: Bring On Washington

Playoff loss eats at him.

Joe actually likes this for the 2025 season. But Joe certainly does not like it for how the 2024 season ended.

In various interviews across the interwebs and podcastsphere in recent weeks, Bucs players are downright angry about how they feel they let a playoff win slip against the Commandos last winter.

Once again, Bucs stud Lavonte David groused about the end of the 2024 season, this time last week to Kay Adams on her weekday show “Up and Adams.”

In fact, David wants a rematch of that playoff game. And a rematch will have to come in the playoffs because the two teams are not playing each other on the regular season schedule.

“I feel like we will meet up at some point,” David said.

The key for the rematch is, the Commandos, David said, have to do what they are supposed to do and the Bucs do what they are supposed to do. That would be make the playoffs.

“That first round playoff game [last year] was very, very, very heartbreaking for me,” David said as he grabbed his heart. “Me and a bunch of other guys felt like we could have done it. We had the team to do it.

“We didn’t get the job done.”

Joe hopes every player coming back for the Bucs has that bitter taste in their mouths when training camp starts and they don’t lose that taste until well after the holidays.

That game was there for the taking. Mistakes (involving two rookies) did them in.

That loss summed up one of Joe’s favorite sayings by Bill Walsh. The three-time Super Bowl winner said if each player does his job, everything will work out in the end.

Take away those two mistakes, the Bucs win that game and who knows what they were capable of doing?
