Atlético Madrid are in the picture to sign Liverpool’s Federico Chiesa this summer.
That’s according to AS, and their title says the Liverpool player is a ‘golden opportunity’ in this market.
The Italy international left Juventus for the Reds and has been limited to a bit part role in his debut season at Anfield. He played 466 minutes from 14 games, managing two goals and two assists for Liverpool.
He’s not pleased with his restricted minutes under Arne Slot and ‘will be leaving’ Anfield this summer. Atlético managing director of football Carlos Bucero has the 27-year-old’s name on his target list.
Bucero also knows the attacking midfielder wants to leave, either on loan or permanently, in search of regular minutes. As well as the Madrid club, Napoli are in contention to sign him.
The former Fiorentina man has a high salary at Liverpool, without the report mentioning figures, and this makes a potential transfer difficult, likely for Atlético and Napoli.
Ángel Correa’s future with the Spanish club needs to be sorted out. If he leaves, they have to bring in a replacement, and the Liverpool player could be an option.
AS state Chiesa can be a backup option for Diego Simeone, meaning his situation won’t improve if he were to join Atlético. Their title says he’s a ‘golden opportunity’ for Atlético.
Chiesa wants to play regularly next season, to improve his chances of representing Italy at the 2026 World Cup.
