'For sure': Newcastle and Man United now face even more Bryan Mbeumo competition - Romano

Newcastle United and Manchester United are not alone in the race to sign Bryan Mbeumo.

The 25-year-old is attracting a lot of attention, with Newcastle holding talks to sign Mbeumo from Brentford.

The Red Devils are keen too, as they aim to bring in more fresh faces following the arrival of Matheus Cunha from Wolves. Man United want to sign Mbeumo, and will hope to tempt him to Old Trafford without the lure of Champions League football.

But there is also another Premier League club taking a look at Bryan Mbeumo.

Newcastle United have more competition to sign Bryan Mbeumo

That is according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who has spoken about Mbeumo’s future at Brentford on his official YouTube channel.

Romano notes that, as well as Newcastle United and Manchester United, the Cameroon international is also on Arsenal’s radar.

“Bryan Mbeumo at Brentford is a player they [Manchester United] like,” he said.

“For sure, he remains on the list. But they know they are not alone. There are several clubs interested: Newcastle, Arsenal, many clubs.

Paul Mitchell aiming to make one major Newcastle United signing

As June arrives, we enter the final few weeks of Paul Mitchell’s reign as Newcastle United sporting director.

Mitchell is leaving Newcastle United at the end of the month, and time is running out for him to leave a lasting impression.

It has been reported that Mitchell wants to make one major signing before leaving Newcastle, and Toon supporters would love it if he could bring Mbeumo to Tyneside.

But there is already serious competition from Man United, and the Cunha deal sums up their pulling power despite their recent demise.

The presence of Arsenal poses another threat. They can offer Champions League football, while Mbeumo would be able to continue living in London.

However, his place in the starting XI at Arsenal is nowhere near as clear. He would join a club that already has Bukayo Saka, while the Gunners’ main transfer priority right now is signing a striker.

As for Newcastle, one of their top priorities is a right winger, and Mbeumo ticks all the boxes.
