Mikel Arteta’s side have been linked to signing Real Madrid winger Rodrygo, who has also been linked to rivals Chelsea. It has been reported that the Brazilian winger is their dream target at the position.
He made 30 La Liga appearances this season for Real Madrid, scoring six goals and providing five assists for Carlo Ancelotti’s side. Now that Xavi Alonso has taken over, there has been suggestions that Rodrygo could be leaving for an interested club this summer. Arsenal being one of the names touted.
Arsenal should swap Martinelli for Rodrygo
If the Gunners want to land Rodrygo, they may have to offer Madrid with a hefty return. It is understood that any deal for the winger would likely cost around £68 million.
Instead of paying the fee, they could offer Gabriel Martinelli in return for the 24-year-old. Martinelli made 51 appearances for the Gunners this season, scoring 10 goals and providing six assists.
It would allow Arsenal to land their ‘dream’ winger target for next season, yet not have to spend big on the 24-year-old. Martinelli has an estimated market value of around £46.2 million, so would likely be enough for Madrid to swap Rodrygo for the Gunners’ winger.

Arsenal aren’t the only Premier League team that wants to sign the Real Madrid star, as it has been reported that several others are keen on his signature.
Chelsea are said to have held talks alongside Arsenal, but Liverpool and Manchester City are also keen on the 24-year-old.
That is why Arsenal should offer a generous return in the form of Martinelli to sign the winger as it would be more likely to tempt Madrid to sell Rodrygo to the Gunners.
