The numbers behind our 2024/25 WSL season

We've sifted through Opta's stats to unearth some of the best facts from our 2024/25 Barclays Women's Super League season.

We finished the season as the **leading goalscorers** (62) for the first time since the 2021/22 campaign (65); we **scored four+ goals** in 10 different league games in 2024/25 with only ourselves in 2018/19 (12) ever doing so more often in a WSL campaign.

27 of our goals came in the first half and 35 in the second half, putting us top of the table for both halves in the league.

Our home league games in 2024/25 saw 50 overall goals scored (39 for, 11 conceded), the most ever in a side’s home matches in a WSL campaign.

We recorded the **most** **high turnovers** in the division (334).

Mariona Caldentey became the first player to win the **WSL Player of the Season award** in their debut season in the competition, scoring nine goals and assisting a further five goals in the league.

Alessia Russo (21 apps) and Khadija Shaw (14 apps) **shared the WSL golden boot** in 2024/25 with 12 goals each – Russo was the first Arsenal player to win the award since Vivianne Miedema in 2019/20.

Alessia Russo scored in **six consecutive WSL appearances** between November 2024 and January 2025 with Bethany England (nine – February 2020) and Beth Mead (seven – August 2015) the only English players to net in more straight outings in the competition’s history.

**Katie McCabe** created the most chances in the 2024/25 WSL season (51).

Leah Williamson made **more carries of 5+ metres** with the ball than any other player (408).

Only Chelsea (51) won more points in the WSL than we did since **Renée Slegers** first game in charge in October (43) with the Dutchwoman holding the highest goals scored per game rate in WSL history (3.2 – 58 in 18 games).

We had the highest shot conversion rate in the league, with 22.1% of our efforts finding the back of the net, 3% more clinical than second-placed Brighton & Hove Albion.

Our shooting accuracy was also on point as we topped that table with 55.5% accuracy courtesy of 156 shots on target from 281 shots.

Excluding crosses, we boasted a passing accuracy in the opposition half of 83.5% from 6933 passes, the best record in the league.

We faced the fewest number of shots in the league (177), conceding just 23 of the 71 shots on target we faced.

The majority of our goals (24%) were scored between the 61st and 75th minutes of matches. The following most popular periods were 76th - 90th, 16th - 30th, and 1st - 15th, with just 10% of our goals being scored in the 15 minutes either side of half-time.

We had five different players in the top 20 goalscorers, Russo leading the way with 12 followed by Mariona (nine), Mead (seven), Frida Maanum (seven), and Caitlin Foord (six).

Russo got more shots away than anyone else in the league (73). 33 were on target, 21 were off target and 19 were blocked.
