David Beckham has highlighted a key difference between the Manchester United players during his time at Old Trafford under Sir Alex Ferguson and those under Ruben Amorim.
Manchester United defeated 10-man Aston Villa 2-0 on the final day of the 2024-25 Premier League season in May before embarking on their post-season tour.
The Red Devils took a tour of Asia in the aftermath of a woeful season and Ruben Amorim’s men played in two pre-season friendly matches last month.
The Premier League club visited Malaysia and United suffered a shock defeat to ASEAN All-Stars at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium in Kuala Lumpur.
Following United’s 1-0 loss to ASEAN All-Stars, the Red Devils concluded their two-match post-season tour at the Hong Kong Stadium in China.
United faced the Hong Kong national team and the Red Devils came from 1-0 down to clinch a 3-1 win last Friday in the final tie of their post-season tour in Asia.

David Beckham sends an important reminder to every Man Utd player at Old Trafford under Ruben Amorim
David Beckham enjoyed incredible success during his legendary playing spell at Manchester United and hoovered up the major silverware at Old Trafford.
The 50-year-old United legend lifted seven Premier League titles, a Champions League trophy and two FA Cups during his time under Sir Alex Ferguson.
One of United’s legendary No 7 shirt-holders, Beckham rose through the ranks of the United youth academy to become a key United first-team player at the Red Devils.
Speaking to CBS Sports, Beckham insisted that the current crop of United players under Ruben Amorim must remember the importance of ‘representing’ the “badge.”
“It’s tough times,” he said.
“I don’t like seeing some of the things that are going on at the club. On the pitch is what counts, but in all honesty, I’m seeing a lot of things that are not okay in my eyes as a fan and as a lover of Man United.
“You have to represent the badge. That’s what it is about. I’ve seen a lot of things where players are not acting in the right manner.
“We were a part of a team that was so well-mannered. We understood what it meant to play for Manchester United. We understood what the badge meant.”

David Beckham points out the important Sir Alex Ferguson quality that is missing from the Man Utd squad under Ruben Amorim
Amorim’s Red Devils players were placed under the spotlight even further during the post-season tour after some of their actions in Asia.
Amad Diallo was pictured putting his middle finger up at people in Kuala Lumpur, but he later defended himself against the “serious personal abuse” he received.
Alejandro Garnacho was also accused of ‘pushing’ a supporter, which was posted on social media, during United’s visit to Malaysia for the post-season tour in Asia.
Beckham has now insisted that players must do what happened during the Ferguson era by showing their “respect” to United fans during their tours around the world.
“Wherever we travelled, whether it was in Europe or in Asia, we respected the fans,” he added.
“We respected the fact that they were turning up, paying money and wanting you to sign and take pictures. You respect that.”
United ended the 2024-25 Premier League campaign in 15th place and the Red Devils suffered their worst finish in the league since its inception back in 1992.
