Leicester City are set for a turbulent summer as they prepare for life back in the Championship.
The Foxes have already been hit with a PSR charge, which means they have the threat of a hefty points deduction hanging over them going into the new season.

As well as that, there are doubts over the future of manager Ruud van Nistelrooy, who hasn’t exactly impressed since he was named as Steve Cooper’s successor.

Despite claims the Dutchman will leave, van Nistelrooy remains in charge for now, but it has been said that Leicester are looking at alternatives.
Russell Martin was heavily linked with the job, but Sky Sports journalist Rob Dorsett cooled talk that the ex-Southampton chief would take over at the King Power Stadium.
However, he did reveal two other names were in the frame, one of which was Strasbourg boss Liam Rosenior.

The 40-year-old will be well-known to Foxes fans, as he impressed in the Championship with Hull before he was surprisingly sacked, which resulted in him landing his current role with the Ligue 1 outfit.

Of course, there are risks with any managerial appointment, but the reality is that Rosenior ticks a lot of boxes for Leicester, starting with the fact he has Championship experience, as his Hull side just missed out on the play-offs in the 2023/24 season.
Furthermore, he encourages a fast, attacking style of play, whilst he is known for developing younger players, which will be part of the strategy in the Midlands.
Yet, despite Leicester’s apparent interest, it’s hard to see why he would make the move right now.

Firstly, Rosenior seems very happy in France, and he signed a new contract with Strasbourg at the end of April.
Even though some will argue contracts mean little in modern football, it proves he is happy, and it will presumably make it difficult for Leicester, or any other club, to prise him away.
Strasbourg qualified for the UEFA Conference League, and their relationship with Chelsea means Rosenior has access to some highly-rated youngsters.
Plus, there will be a feeling at the club that they can push for Europe once again next season.

There's been a late plot twist in Leicester hunt for a new manager, and the alternative names being mentioned may even be upgrades on Russell Martin.
So, it’s difficult to see Rosenior swapping that for a return to the Championship, even if Leicester are a big club with a lot of potential.
In football, you can never say never, but this looks like a long shot, although if they can get it over the line, it would be a real statement of intent from Leicester ahead of the new season.
