This will be Canada’s week, and more, the GTA’s. The Stanley Cup final begins Wednesday in Edmonton. (No, the Leafs didn’t make it, and you didn’t even have to ask, because everybody knows what happened, again.) And the NBA Finals kick off Thursday in Oklahoma City, and former Raptor Pascal Siakam will be there for Indiana, along with a truly heartening Canadian contingent of players. But both series will revolve around Toronto.

Admittedly, this is that eternal small-town news trope — Local Man Has Links to Big Event Somewhere Else — and, yes, lots of GTA-linked athletes who have played on the biggest stages.
