A host of Premier League clubs have been linked with a move for Fiorentina’s Moise Kean but Newcastle United are now said to be leading the race for the striker.
The Italian had a terrific 2024/25 season and found the back of the net 25 times in all competitions, enjoying the best individual season of his career. That has now attracted a lot of attention and Calciomercato‘s Daniele Longo reports on the player’s future.
The journalist states Newcastle United are ‘very interested’ in landing Kean and more recently, Napoli have made an enquiry for him as well.
This signals rising interest in the ex-Everton player, who has a release clause of €52m in his Fiorentina contract. The outlet believe that no club has expressed an intention to meet that price tag, though.
This provides a fair amount of hope to Newcastle United, should they want that hope, with Longo stating the clause is active between the 1st and 15th of July.
Fiorentina’s aim is to keep the player, however it’s clear someone is playing transfer games given the number of links to Premier League clubs. Kean failed during his time in England, and the idea of a battle for his signature, at €52m, is a difficult one to believe.
