Manchester United post Bruno Fernandes update as Alejandro Garnacho sends him a message

It is a big week in the future of Man Utd captain Bruno Fernandes and here is all the latest.

Time is running out for Al-Hilal to complete their sensational swoop for Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes. The Saudi club have made a lucrative approach for the Portuguese playmaker and want him to be part of their squad when they kickstart their Club World Cup campaign against Real Madrid later this month.

Al-Hilal have set a deadline of the end of this week for a deal to be agreed with reports suggesting they are 'confident' of completing his transfer. United are understood to be 'relaxed' about the situation, though there is a growing feeling the 30-year-old could decide to leave the club after their failure to qualify for the Champions League.

Ruben Amorim claimed last week that he had no indication the club captain wanted to leave and although United want to keep Fernandes, they will not stay in his way if he asks to go. It means we are set for a frantic few days that will decide the future of Fernandes.

United post Bruno Fernandes update

Bruno Fernandes captained Manchester United in their post-season friendly win over Hong Kong on Friday but there was little time to rest as he joined up with the Portugal national side ahead of their Nations League semi-final against Germany. The 30-year-old caught up with his international teammates over the weekend ahead of their clash in Munich on Wednesday night. Depending on the result of that clash, they will face either Spain or France on Sunday in the third-place match or the final.

United supporters are desperate for clarity on their captain's situation and the club appeared to tease supporters on social media when they posted a brief Fernandes on Monday. Taking to their official X account, United uploaded a picture of the club captain, as well as Manuel Ugarte, along with the caption: 'Arriving for international duty.'

The picture was also shared by Fernandes on his own social media pages, with Alejandro Garnacho one of those who responded. In the comments of his Instagram post, the Argentine simply wrote: "Brunooo brunooo brunooo," in homage to his talismanic teammate.

What Ruben Amorim said about Bruno Fernandes

Speaking on Friday, Ruben Amorim was asked whether Bruno Fernandes had played his final game for the club. “I don’t think so. I don't know for sure, nobody does, but I don't think so,” he told reporters. “He's seeing us taking some actions to change all the things and I think that is all he asks. I think he wants to stay - he's saying no to a lot of things, he shows that he wants to win. He's really young, he's really good and he needs to be in the best league in the world."

When asked if Manchester United could turn down a possible £100 million bid for the midfielder, he added: “Yes. The club can find other ways to make money. I am the manager, the coach, but sometimes it is the decision of the player. Of course I talk with him, I explain things. I just have that feeling. When you talk to someone you get the feeling if they want to stay. He knows what we are doing. The feeling I have every time I speak with him is that he wants to continue for sure with Manchester United, you never know."
