[West Ham’s](https://www.claretandhugh.info/west-ham-battle-everton-for-long-time-moyes-transfer-target/) 2024 transfer window included several ‘movers’ who were not so much disposed of as shunted out of the way: In order to bring in his own choices, Lopetegui decided pretty early on during the friendly series of pre-season fixtures that several squad players didn’t meet his expectations.
Early loans were agreed for the young hopefuls Freddie Potts, Callum Marshall and George Earthy – Earthy especially must have been disappointed after his debut and goal under Moyes just a few weeks before.
Loans for Nayef Aguerd, Maxi Cornet and belatedly James Ward-Prowse (who was rumoured to be in the running Hammers vice captain) were all arranged on the back of perhaps two or three friendly games in which the squad got a maximum of 45 minutes each.
In light of the news of target Kelleher’s sale to Brentford, perhaps the most likely ‘incoming’ deal is for ‘_the relegator_‘ – referring to his thrice-relegated status – **Aaron Ramsdale** to arrive on a season-long loan.. as suggested on twitter/x by [saintsextra](https://x.com/SaintsExtra/status/1928559543518105642) and _ExWHUemployee_ which might not be such a bad idea if there is an option to buy the former England stopper at the end of it.
Certainly Ramsdale would be an upgrade on Wes Foderingham who currently occupies the ‘second choice’ keeper spot and would be a good way to kick the can down the road financially.
Can’t help thinking there is still a good ‘keeper in there somewhere, it would be a shame to loan him, play him back to form and then send him on his way without at least an option to buy him. Perhaps the club have learned from the so-called ‘dry’ loan – no ability to buy – of 2021’s star turn Jesse Lingard?
