The one major issue that is blocking Jadon Sancho’s move to Chelsea from Man Utd

Jadon Sancho is most likely to leave Manchester United this summer, but one key factor is currently preventing the winger from joining Chelsea permanently.

Chelsea are looking to build on a successful first season under Enzo Maresca, with a positive summer transfer window.

The west London outfit are an enticing club to join following their Europa Conference League triumph and Champions League status, with the Blues already set to land Liam Delap.

In contrast, struggling Man United are preparing for a big rebuild this summer, securing Matheus Cunha’s signature, who is most likely the first of many new names through the doors at Carrington in the next few months.

However, the Red Devils are looking to offload players to make room for new additions, and Jadon Sancho is one of the names being touted for a United exit this window.

Chelsea could have already triggered their buy option for Sancho, but reports are suggesting there is still one stumbling block in the way of a deal being struck.

Chelsea have yet to agree Sancho’s salary

Chelsea are still keen on bringing Sancho back to Stamford Bridge for next season, but Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that his wages are what’s holding the deal up at the moment.

🚨 Chelsea remain in contact with Jadon Sancho’s camp over contract terms, still no agreement on salary so far.

Final decision will be in few days, outcome expected next week.

One way or another, Sancho’s future at Chelsea will be confirmed in the next few days, with it being expected that the England international would be keen on a permanent move since showing glimpses of his old form this season.

Sancho scored the penultimate goal in Chelsea’s 4-1 win against Real Betis in the Conference League final, with a beautiful curling effort, helping his side cap off a successful season.

Should the winger’s move back to Chelsea not materialise, many other clubs would be sure to be sniffing around for his services, as the 25-year-old still has lots to offer.

Chelsea will still have to pay Man Utd £5m in compensation should they opt against signing Sancho, with United’s £70m signing still having two years remaining on his contract.

While it’s possible that Ruben Amorim could still offer Sancho a second chance, it seems increasingly likely that he’s played his last game in United colours.

Sancho racked up a respectable 13 goals and assists combined in the 41 games he played for the Blues in all competitions this season, and a cut-price deal for the Englishman could seem a very appealing move for another club.

Of the 41 games, Sancho started 26, often not seeing the full 90 minutes, and while a move back to Stamford Bridge could be a smart one, joining a club that gives him regular starts week in, week out could be as enticing.

With Chelsea rotating Sancho regularly this season and his high wages, it’s possible that the club look elsewhere for a replacement, with the Blues reportedly interested in Morgan Rogers.

Sancho is still eligible to play for Chelsea until the end of June, with the Club World Cup commencing on the 14th of June.
