Many Premier League players have already seen their holidays cut short and have joined up with their national sides for the upcoming matches. It’s unlikely to be one of the most popular international breaks among footballers, but with the World Cup appearing on the horizon there’s not going to be a rash of injury withdrawals.
However, in Sweden there’s already a couple of issues for manager Jon Dahl Tomasson. Victor Lindelöf is unavailable as his wife is about to give birth, with the hope everything goes ok and he can join up afterwards. There’s also an absence on the way for Nottingham Forest’s Anthony Elanga.
Sweden are set to face Hungary and then Algeria, and the Nottingham Forest player will only be available for the first of those matches.
[Fotbolldirekt](https://fotbolldirekt.se/herrlandslaget/lindelof-saknas-i-blagult-alla-vet-om-hans-situation/) quote Dahl Tomasson as saying: _“He is not playing the second game for personal reasons. It is something we agreed on a long time ago. He may train with us (before the match against Algeria), but he will not play the second match. It is also possible that he will leave after the first match.”_
There’s no further information regarding Elanga or the reasons for the Nottingham Forest player only being around for one of Sweden’s matches. Whether it’s a situation similar to Lindelöf isn’t being shared.
Whatever it is, best of luck Anthony!
