There was never a doubt that Bayer Leverkusen was going to give Bayern Munich hell over a potential transfer of Florian Wirtz.
When Bayern Munich failed to convince Wirtz that Bavaria was the perfect spot for him, Liverpool FC became the clear frontrunner to land the German superstar.
As it turns out, Liverpool could be having as much difficulty as Bayern Munich was anticipated to have with Bayer Leverkusen.
According to a report from Sport Bild journalist Christian Falk, Bayer Leverkusen has rejected a second offer from Liverpool and is still holding out for a proposal worth €150 million:

Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg checked in with a similar report:
⤵️ Not much has changed: the second offer for Florian #Wirtz was not accepted in its current form, which is why, as reported, there was still no agreement a few days ago.
Negotiations are ongoing. Both teams want a quick agreement, Leverkusen have a different overall package in mind than the one currently being offered by Liverpool. #LFC
It still feels like a deal will get done, but Bayer Leverkusen might not relent on driving a hard bargain.
In addition and while it seems unlikely, this could open a window for Xabi Alonso and Real Madrid to swoop in and at least see if it can tempt Wirtz.
