Report: 'Incredible' £25m player to be left out of Club World Cup squad, amid transfer links to …

Wolves are looking to be productive this summer – and one target looks to be all set to leave his club.

Wanderers are facing a huge window with Matheus Cunha and Pablo Sarabia having already moved on.

Vitor Pereira wants to take Wolves to the next level, but the manager will have to brace for losing some players, as has been the case for the last few seasons.

Cunha has now officially joined United after much speculation.

He will of course be very difficult to replace, such was his ability to change a game in an instant with a bit of magic.

Wolves have been linked with a few players to potentially play in his left sided 10 position next term.

Harvey Elliott was briefly linked with Wolves, but the feeling is that he will be too expensive at over £40 million.

But James McAtee is also a target for Wolves – and Manchester City look set to sanction his exit.

At the moment, there is heavy speculation that Manchester City are trying to sign Rayan Ait-Nouri.

City were expected to join the hunt for Ait-Nouri, and now they are firming up their interest and a deal is expected to happen.

But potentially, we might see Wolves try and raid City for McAtee.

It has been reported by the Mirror that Pep Guardiola has decided against including McAtee in the squad he is taking to the upcoming Club World Cup in the US.

That suggests that McAtee, who is highly coveted, will be sorting out his future.

It is worth noting though that McAtee will join up with the England U21s squad for the Euros. But certainly, Guardiola not wanting him for City’s squad is a clear indicator of how he sees him right now.

Wolves like McAtee. But there are plenty of other clubs in the mix to sign him, including ones from overseas such as Bayer Leverkusen.

That said, Wolves may be encouraged by this development, and given they have a good relationship with City after the Matheus Nunes and Tommy Doyle transactions, there may be a deal to be done.

Wolves can offer James McAtee regular game time

Wolves are up against it to sign McAtee, who is valued around the £25 million mark.

But Wanderers have now offloaded Cunha and need someone for that left 10 position – and McAtee seems like he’d be a great fit.

He plays in those attacking midfield roles and likes to play between the lines. He is not dynamic or explosive like Cunha, but very good in the pockets and tight spaces.

Pep Guardiola has branded McAtee ‘incredible’ before (Manchester Evening News) and made it clear that he’s been in an unfair situation with his game time at the Etihad Stadium.

Wanderers would likely be able to offer him regular game time, and potentially, they could even promise him Cunha’s old number 10 shirt.
