Player says goodbye to club before returning to Southampton – Future with Saints ‘not yet clear’

Samuel Edozie played a role in helping Southampton secure promotion to the Premier League, contributing six goals and three assists in the Championship during the 2023/24 season.

Southampton didn’t include the winger in their plans this season and sent him on loan to Anderlecht in September.

Operating mainly on the left wing, he managed four goals and six assists from less than 1,800 minutes accross 32 games. The Jupiler Pro League club haven’t secured a purchase option with Southampton and Edozie will return to his parent club.

Voetbal Krant now report the 22-year-old has said goodbye to the Belgian club, where he immediately had opportunities to play, which he didn’t have with the Saints.

Edozie picked up two different injuries while at Anderlecht but still managed to impress on the pitch. The outlet claims his statistics were the ‘biggest point of improvement’ during his loan spell.

He has to return to Southampton, who will play in the Championship next season. The report claims it’s ‘not yet clear’ whether they’ll keep the attacker.

Southampton have appointed Will Still as their new manager, and he and the club have to make a decision on Edozie’s future.
