Rodrygo sends clear Arsenal transfer message to Real Madrid as Mikel Arteta handed£50m twist

Arsenal transfer target Rodrygo has made his exit stance clear to Real Madrid, a new report has claimed.

The Brazilian has been linked with a move to Manchester City and Liverpool as well, but the chances of a move to the Premier League taking place have dwindled.

Toward the latter stages of the 2024/25 season, Rodrygo barely featuring for Real saw exit rumours spark into life. Carlo Ancelotti dismissed those swiftly however, citing a minor injury injury and illness as the reasons he was absent before the man himself offered an update.

While in what looked to be a recovery chamber back in mid-May, translated to English, he wrote on Instagram: “Thank you for all your messages and concerns. I’ll be back soon. Stop making things up."

Ancelotti had also admitted in his own update that he loves Rodrygo but that does not really matter as he is no longer Los Blancos' head coach, with Xabi Alonso confirmed as his replacement last month.

However, it looks as though the Spaniard has similar feelings for Rodrygo when asked about the 24-year-old's future during his unveiling.

"He's a Madrid player and I will have a conversation with everyone because we need to do so," he admitted to reporters. "We'll get to know each other. He's a spectacular player and we need him."

With everything pointing toward Rodrygo remaining in the Spanish capital, Arsenal's hunt for alternatives looked set to kick on until an intriguing report emerged from Spanish radio network Cadena SER.

They wrote that Real may be forced into a big sale in order to balance their financial books and Rodrygo was mentioned as the player most likely to be sacrificed.

As that is very much a Real decision, Rodrygo's stance on wanting to leave and potentially sign for Arsenal was unclear but that is no longer the case.

According to Marca, he has told Real that he would like to stay despite the interest from several Premier League clubs.

In response to that however, it has been noted that Real want him to prove his worth over the next month with their Club World Cup campaign beginning on Wednesday, June 18.

Alongside Rodrygo, Arsenal have been linked to multiple wingers including Nico Williams, Bryan Mbeumo and Jamie Gittens but the latter could soon be off the market as Chelsea are looking to agree a deal in the next two weeks with the Borussia Dortmund star is expected to cost £50million.
