Report: Leeds United put trio on the Elland Road transfer list, ready to sell each player for £3m-£4m

All the talk about Leeds United is about which players The 49ers will sign this summer, as Daniel Farke looks to keep the club in the Premier League come May 2026.

Leeds need a new goalkeeper, centre-back cover, a replacement for Junior Firpo, a couple of midfielders, a better version of Brenden Aaronson, Manor Solomon permanently and a proven centre-forward.

For Leeds to be in a position where they can put a green tick next to all of those transfer aims, then they will need to cash in on a few current players. Not only to raise cash, but to make room in Farke’s squad.

Illan Meslier, Patrick Bamford, Max Wober and Mateo Joseph have been linked with summer sales. But there is also the issue of those returning from loans, and Leeds have put three players on the transfer list.

Leeds set asking price for returning trio at just £3m-£4m

Joe Gelhardt, Sam Greenwood and Darko Gyabi have all returned from Championship loan spells at Hull, Preston and Plymouth. Gyabi was relegated with Plymouth, Preston have opted not to sign Greenwood.

Gelhardt enjoyed a solid spell during the second half of the season with Hull, scoring five goals in 20 games as The Tigers survived relegation on goal difference. Now, the trio return to parent club Leeds.

The Yorkshire Evening Post say Leeds are willing to sell all three – and have set an asking price between £3m and £4m for each player. Bought for a combination of £7.5m, Leeds are hoping for a small profit.

How the trio have got on since Leeds United’s 2023 relegation

When Leeds were relegated to the Championship, it was expected that young players like Gelhardt, Gyabi and Greenwood would benefit. But ultimately for these three, that has not proven to be the case.

Indeed, the same story for Charlie Cresswell, Jamie Shackleton and Sonny Perkins – who have all left the club permanently. Gelhardt remained at Leeds for 18 months before his exit in January to join Hull.
