Over 10 Players up for Sale as Chelsea Begin Summer Overhaul: Reports

Chelsea are set for a massive summer overhaul of their squad, as a host of headline stars are on the market, including Noni Madueke, Christopher Nkunku, and João Felix. The club are reportedly set to cut their numbers by as many as 10 players ahead of the upcoming Club World Cup.

Madueke, who was signed from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023, netted seven league goals last season. The Blues are prepared to sell the 23-year-old winger irrespective of that, with AC Milan interested in him. However, the Italian club are not keen on forking out the Blues’ €60 million price tag.

Nkunku, who came in 2023 from RB Leipzig in a £53 million deal, has been affected by injuries and a lack of gametime. He featured in 27 Premier League games last season, netting just three goals. Bayern Munich and Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly made efforts to acquire the French forward.

Felix, following a loan stint with AC Milan, is also on the list to be sold. The Portuguese striker joined the Blues on a permanent contract in 2024 and netted once from 12 appearances before his loan transfer.

In goal, the Blues’ may attempt to unload Robert Sánchez and Djordje Petrovic. Sánchez’s inconsistent form has led the club to seek replacements, while Petrovic, who impressed during a loan spell at Strasbourg, is wanted by AS Monaco.

Defensively, Ben Chilwell, Axel Disasi, and Wesley Fofana are also included in those who are believed to be unwanted. Chilwell had his last season on loan at Crystal Palace, and Fofana’s continuous fitness issues have kept him off the pitch.

Other Chelsea Players Set to Leave

Midfielders Lesley Ugochukwu, Carney Chukwuemeka, and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall are also transfer possibilities. Dewsbury-Hall, signed from Leicester City in 2024, featured in just 13 league games. Meanwhile, Chukwuemeka was loaned to Borussia Dortmund, while Ugochukwu was sent out on loan to Southampton.

Raheem Sterling has returned to the Bridge after a poor loan stint at Arsenal during which he never found the net in 17 league matches. However, he is being shipped out as well, but this might be difficult, as he has two years left on his high-wage contract.

Chelsea’s transfer policy has also planned for reinforcements. The team has already signed Estevao Willian from Palmeiras on a deal worth £56 million and Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap for £30 million.
