Dawg Pound Discourse: How many wins does Stefanski need to keep his job?

The Cleveland Browns are looking to regain their competitive form after an embarrassing year. There are still huge question marks on offense about this team, and we won’t likely have any answers until the games start in September.

Coaches coming off a three-win season are considered on the hot seat for the following season. While Kevin Stefanski has earned some grace with his two NFL Coach of the Year awards, he won’t be brought back if the season is a repeat of last year.

Cleveland’s offense was an abomination in 2024, ranking near the bottom of every advanced metric in the entire league. Rather than bringing in a new offensive coordinator from the outside, Stefanski decided that his best option was already on the staff and hired Tommy Rees for the job.

With so much uncertainty at quarterback, no one expects the Browns to be competing for a division title. However, the team can’t look unprepared or, better yet, uninterested in playing football.

The NFL schedule makers did the Browns no favors early in the season, as they have a gauntlet of Super Bowl-contending teams in each of the first four weeks. If that stretch doesn’t go well, Stefanski could be in danger of losing a veteran locker room that is unhappy at staring down another losing season.

It’s fair to question if this will be the biggest four-game stretch that Stefanski has faced during his tenure with the Browns. This brings us to today’s topic for our Dawg Pound Discourse:

How many games does Stefanski need to win this season to keep his job?

This was also a topic of conversation recently on The Ken Carman Show with Anthony Lima.

As they discussed, coming up with a hard number is tough, but ultimately, the level of play that Stefanski gets out of the QBs could determine his fate. The fanbase is going to be more willing to continue down the current path if it looks like the team has found something with one of their young quarterbacks.

Now it’s time to hear from you. Is there a minimum number that Stefanski has to win for you? How important do you think it will be to win a game or two out of the first four games? Let us know in the comments below.
