All of the Lions, Red Wings greats we saw meeting and greeting fans this weekend

NOVI, MI - Talk about stars! Some of greatest Lions and Red Wings players in the history of Detroit sports were in the same place at the same time this weekend meeting and greeting with fans.

The Detroit Sports Spectacular took place all weekend at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi.

Miguel Cabrera was there on Friday. Tigers greats Alan Trammell and Jack Morris, along with Pistons “Bad Boys” Bill Laimbeer and Dennis Rodman there on Saturday along with numerous 2003 National Champion Wolverines players.

Here are all of the photos we captured at the event on Sunday, which included former and current Lions and Red Wings greats.

Calvin Johnson (left) and Barry Sanders. Johnson played wide receiver for the Detroit Lions from 2007-2015. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2021. Sanders played running back for the Lions from 1989-1998. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2004.

brett hull and chris chelios

Brett Hull (left) played for the Detroit Red Wings from 2001-2004. He scored 741 goals in his career and is considered one of the greatest goal-scorers in NHL history. Chris Chelios played for the Wings from 1998-2009. He is considered one of the top defensemen to ever play in the NHL.

Terrion Arnold is going into his second season at cornerback for the Detroit Lions. He was drafted in the first round by the team at the NFL Draft in Detroit in 2024.

Jahmyr Gibbs, nicknamed, “Sonic,” is going into this third season at running back for the Detroit Lions. Gibbs rushed for 1,412 yards last season and 16 touchdowns. He caught 52 passes for 517 yards and four scores.

Jared Goff has thrown for 35,058 yards and 222 touchdowns in his career with the Rams (2016-2020) and Detroit Lions (2021-2024). He had the highest passer-rating in his career last season at 111.8.

Aidan Hutchinson is going into his fourth season at defensive end for the Detroit Lions. Hutchinson was leading the league in sacks last season before suffering a season-ending leg injury. He has 28.5 sacks for his career.

Alim McNeill is going into his fifth season at defensive tackle for the Detroit Lions. His season was cut short last year with a knee injury. In 2023, he became Detroit’s first interior defensive lineman with 5 sacks in a season since Ndamukong Suh in 2014.

Jack Campbell is going into his fourth season as a linebacker with the Detroit Lions. He had 69 solo tackles last season.

D.J. Reed is going into his first season with the Detroit Lions at cornerback. He signed with the team as a free-agent in the off season. Reed previously played for the 49ers, Seahawks and Jets.

Jake Bates is going into his second season as kicker for the Detroit Lions. Bates played for the Michigan Panthers prior to being signed by Detroit last off-season. He was 26-29 on field goals last season and was 6-8 in field goals of 50 yards or longer.

Amik Robertson is going into his second season with the Lions at cornerback. Before that, he played for the Raiders for four seasons.

Mike Vernon played goalie for the Detroit Red Wings from 1994-1997. He played 19 NHL seasons and is a two-time Stanley Cup champion as well as a winner of Conn Smythe and Jennings trophies.

Chris Osgood played goalie for the Detroit Red Wings from 1993-2001 and from 2005-2011. Osgood won three Stanley Cups with the Red Wings, and according to NHL.com, he is the only goalie in NHL history to win more than 400 games (401) and lose fewer than 250.
