Wes Brown fears Manchester United's Europa League final defeat to Tottenham could be catastrophic for his former club.
But Brown has urged United bosses to show patience with manager Ruben Amorim - and give him the time needed to rebuild his team. United missed out on a Champions League place and £100m jackpot following their crushing loss to Spurs in Bilbao.
Brown knows the consequences will be damaging for United. But he reckons sacking Amorim would achieve nothing - and believes the Portuguese coach is still the right man to bring the good times back to the stricken giants.
Brown told BetVictor Canada: "The Europa League final defeat was massive, you’ve got to be honest. First of all, a win would’ve pulled Manchester United into the Champions League.
"And that brings in loads of revenue and takes away a little bit of pain from the Premier League campaign, it's as simple as that.

"Now that's not there, you have to start from the bottom. Ruben Amorim will get in as many players as he can.
"The manager will have had two plans, depending on the result against Tottenham, and I'm pretty sure that he would have already started that plan now."
Brown, who won 11 trophies during a glittering career at Old Trafford, admits Amorim will be under huge pressure come the start of next season, but is confident he's the right man to deal with it.
He added: "You cannot lose faith in Ruben Amorim right now, after only so many months.
"You have to give the manager time, and I said this about Erik ten Hag and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

"Manchester United have not given managers time. You have to give Amorim time, it’s as simple as that.
"It will be interesting to see where they are after the first two months of the new Premier League season, and how the team are playing at that point.
"Who's in the team and who’s not? There will be a lot of pressure, but that's the task now. Somehow, they’re going to have to be able to handle that pressure."
