XAVIER AMAECHI

A winger who was seen as more promising than Bukayo Saka in some quarters, Amaechi made an impact for Arsenal at youth level before choosing to leave for Hamburg in 2019.

Amaechi ended up making just 13 senior appearances for the German club and had loan spells at Karlsruher and Bolton Wanderers before signing for Magdeburg.

Now aged 24, the former England youth international is set to become a free agent this summer.

CONOR HENDERSON

A hugely talented prospect during his time in the academy, midfielder Henderson endured much misfortune with injuries, although he did make a competitive senior appearance for Arsenal against Leyton Orient in the FA Cup in 2011.

Henderson eventually left Arsenal in 2013 and spent time at numerous clubs, which included featuring in League One for Crawley Town.

He later had spells playing in Bulgaria and Romania and is now back at Arsenal’s academy as a youth coach at U14 level.

RENNY SMITH

Signed scholarship: 2013. Arsenal apps: 0. Subsequent career: Burnley, Vicenza, Mantova (loan), Sudtioral, Dordrecht, WSG-Tirol, Oxford City, Hemel Hempstead Town.

A midfielder who joined Arsenal after leaving Chelsea, Smith represented Austria at youth level despite having been born in England.

He featured for Arsenal U21s but departed for Burnley in 2015, for whom he didn’t make a senior appearance.

Smith played in Sweden, Italy, the Netherlands and Austria during a varied career before returning to England with Oxford City. He has seemingly stopped playing after a spell with Hemel Hempstead.

ANTHONY JEFFREY

Signed scholarship: 2011. Arsenal apps: 0. Subsequent career: Wycombe Wanderers, Boreham Wood, Welling United, Concord Rangers, Boreham Wood (loan), Boreham Wood, Forest Green Rovers, Boreham Wood (loan), Boreham Wood (loan), Sutton United, Dover Athletic (loan), Dover Athletic, Wrexham, Billericay Town, Dulwich Hamlet. Guyana international.

A winger known for his speed, Jeffrey progressed through the ranks at Arsenal’s academy and caught the eye for the U18s but didn’t make a senior appearance.

He featured once in League One while on loan at Stevenage and also played in League Two for Wycombe Wanderers.

However, since then Jeffrey has played for various non-league clubs, which has included four spells at Boreham Wood.

Jeffrey now plays for Dulwich Hamlet and has been capped by Guyana at senior level.

DANIEL BOATENG

Signed scholarship: 2009. Arsenal apps: 1. Subsequent career: Olimpic Sarajevo, Sodertalje FK, Airdrieonians, Rakow Czestochowa, Olimpia Grudziadz, Aerostar Bacau, Welling United, Haringey Borough.

Another player who spent much time in the Arsenal academy, defender Boateng came on as a substitute against Bolton Wanderers in the League Cup in 2011.

Boateng has played in Scotland, Sweden, Poland and Romania, with his most recent action coming for Haringey Borough in 2022.

He recently featured on ‘Guess the Arsenal player’ on the club’s official website.
