West Ham are in the market for a new striker this summer.
West Ham have a huge summer ahead as they look to right their wrongs from the previous campaign, in which they stumbled to a disappointing 14th-placed finish in the Premier League.
In order to do that, recruitment is going to be crucial at the London Stadium, with several areas of the squad needing some serious attention in the window.
One of the main areas to target will be the striker position, with a new forward identified by the Hammers.

Davie Selke emerges at West Ham target
With Evan Ferguson seemingly returning to Brighton, the Irons will be in desperate need of attacking reinforcements, something they’ve failed at in recent years.
MORE WEST HAM STORIES
Niclas Fullkrug, West Ham’s most recent German addition, has failed to hit the heights he reached while at Dortmund, and the Hammers are hoping to address that with the addition of Davie Selke.
According to a report from the Express (2 June), the HSV “goal-machine” has attracted interest from the Irons, Fulham and Leeds United.

Selke’s last three seasons.
The German 30-year-old scored 22 goals in 31 appearances in the most recent campaign, and his contract with the now-Bundesliga club is due to expire at the end of the month.
Aside from a successful season with Hamburger, his goalscoring record doesn’t particularly stand out, though, on a free signing, the Irons may be tempted.

West Ham need to move away from ageing strikers
If the Hammers are to start progressing, they need to be looking at youthful strikers who can grow in reputation with the club.
Selke, at 30 years old, makes little sense, given the fact that he would have no sell-on value, and doesn’t come with any guarantee that he would perform in the Premier League.
Signing ageing forwards has been the biggest downfall for West Ham recently, and they can’t afford to replicate that again this summer.
West Ham need to get the big decisions right this summer, and there would be questions as to whether this one would fit that.
