Manchester United are reportedly considering a swoop for former Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Old Trafford bosses are scrambling to find an alternative after missing out on Chelsea-bound Liam Delap, who was their top striker target this summer. Delap is set to finalise his move to Chelsea on Monday, with his medical underway and agreements in place for a £30million transfer from Ipswich Town.

United, however, remain in dire need of a prolific centre-forward, with Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee both potentially heading out the exit door following miserable seasons. And according to talkSPORT, Mitrovic is one of the players INEOS are mulling over.

Al-Hilal shelled out around £50m to sign Mitrovic from Fulham in 2023, and despite him turning 31 in September, the Saudi Pro League side reportedly want to recoup £40m if they decide to let him go.

Mitrovic finished the season with 19 goals in just 23 appearances, boasting a better goals-per-game ratio than Karim Benzema, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Ivan Toney.

The Serbian international has netted 68 goals in 79 matches across all competitions since joining Al-Hilal, after scoring more than a hundred goals for Fulham.

Al-Hilal are reportedly eyeing a few high-profile signings, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Victor Osimhen both in the mix. This could mean they'll need to offload some players, like Mitrovic, to comply with foreign quota rules.

United aren't the only ones keeping tabs on Mitrovic, as Everton and West Ham are also said to be monitoring the situation. All three clubs are expected to be in the market for a new centre-forward before the window closes.

The Red Devils might find their options limited this summer after failing to secure Champions League qualification. European football is believed to have been a key factor in Delap choosing Stamford Bridge over Old Trafford, and it could also hinder moves for Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko.

United have already announced the £62.5m signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves and more signings are expected.

Antony, Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho are all set to depart United to make way for new faces, while the futures of Hojlund and Zirkzee remain uncertain.
