Town return to the Championship at the first time of asking after a brutal campaign in the Premier League, with the club already installed as the favourites to win the second tier in 2025/26.
Morsy and boss Kieran McKenna often talk about 'the process' of building for success, so what does that look like as the players head into the summer?

"My relationship with Kieran, I’ve always had debriefs – what you’ve done well, what you need to improve on, what it looks like, what’s the development, how can you take your play and leadership to the next level," Morsy explained.
“Who do you study, who do you watch, who’s doing things which you need to do?
"It’s a big process, you never end that learning – but then of course the most important thing is the spirit and having the fire in your belly to get out and do it and compete, put everything on the line and try to get back in the Premier League.”
Morsy says he and his team-mates are expecting a tough pre-seasonMorsy says he and his team-mates are expecting a tough pre-season (Image: PA) Morsy and the Blues all jet off for well-earned holidays now - but even while soaking up the sun, the skipper says players will remain focused.
“In moments, you’ve got to let yourself let your hair down, more importantly for the mental side, you’ve got to enjoy yourself," he admitted.
“But enjoying yourself is not every day enjoying yourself, it’s moments and doing it at the right time.
“You definitely need to relax, and then get stuck in and get focused.”

He added: “Everything’s recorded, every workout, and you’re expected to hand it in every week, so there’s no stone left unturned.
“Pre-season is going to be hard, harder than last season, so you can’t leave yourself vulnerable to it! It’s going to be tough.”
When the players do return for pre-season, there will be no doubt about what their goal is - and the expectations both internally and externally.

"Before this season we did that for a couple of years with Kieran, come in and win a lot of games.
“We have to get back to that mentality, winning and competing with each other every day, then finding ways to win games on Saturday.”

Town are heading down with Leicester City and Southampton - two sides who figure to be among their promotion rivals next season.
And Morsy said history suggests Town can expect to compete for an immediate return to the top tier.
“Most teams who get relegated, as long as they keep their squad and the manager, they tend to be up there," he said.
“This season you look at Burnley and Sheff U. Obviously Luton was a disaster, never seen before, but the other two were right up there, both on 90 plus points.
“So the reality is that we’re going to have a strong squad and the manager is the same, which is massive.”

But the skipper insists it's all part of the journey for the club - with a good chance to achieve something special again next term.

He concluded: “We’re on this journey now and there’s bumps on it and different versions of the journey, trials and tribulations all the time - but we’re going to have a strong squad and we quickly have to shift into that mentality of winning every week and getting after it.”
