Fabrizio Romano has recently provided an update on the future of Manchester United’s want-away star Jadon Sancho, with a ‘final decision’ date set.
After setting the world alight for Borussia Dortmund, Jadon Sancho has struggled to find his feet in England since his move to Manchester United in 2021.
With an underwhelming 15 goal contributions in 58 Premier League fixtures for the Red Devils, a decision was made to find Sancho a new club.
The 25-year-old’s loan back to his former side saw him show glimpses of his past self, but not enough to make his move permanent, which led to United sending Sancho to big-six rivals Chelsea.
Sancho has enjoyed a more fruitful season in England with Chelsea, contributing to 15 goals in 42 games, including a recent stunning goal in Chelsea’s Conference League final win last Wednesday.
Sancho decision expected this week
Chelsea’s loan move for Sancho included an obligation to make the signing permanent for a fee in the region of £25m, which has left Enzo Maresca’s side with a decision to make.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano on X, it would earn Rúben Amorim’s team £5 million in compensation if Chelsea were to send Sancho back to Old Trafford this summer.
In the same post, Romano stated that, “Chelsea remain in contact with Jadon Sancho’s camp over contract terms, still no agreement on salary so far.”
As well as this, the transfer insider has claimed that a final decision will be made within a few days, and that the outcome can be expected this week.

United’s summer of sales
Regardless of whether Chelsea sign the English winger or not, it seems likely that Sancho will move on from United in the coming months.

With the futures of fellow loanees Marcus Rashford and Antony also up in the air, Amorim’s side will likely experience a major summer clear-out in their attacking department.
These sales will enable United to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season, as a lack of European football means they will need to raise funds through player sales.
Amorim’s side have already had a strong start to the window, with Wolves forward Matheus Cunha being announced earlier this week as their first signing of the summer.
