Max Contract Player Linked to Hornets in NBA Trade Rumors

In a recent article by Owen O'Connor of SI.com, he suggested the Hornets should flip Mark Williams, Josh Green, and Josh Okogie to Boston for Kristaps Porzingis, the No. 28 pick in 2025, and a 2027 lottery-protected first. And honestly? I like it.

Hornets head coach Charles Lee coached Porzingis in Boston. He knows exactly how to use him. KP brings a stretch-five element that Williams simply doesn’t offer—spacing the floor, punishing mismatches, and unlocking driving lanes for LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller.

Porzingis is on an expiring deal, so Charlotte keeps its flexibility while adding a big who fits Lee’s system. Toss in two first-rounders—including a late first this year—and suddenly the Hornets have draft ammo (they already own picks 33 and 34) to maneuver into the lottery.

It’s a pivot and a move that prioritizes fit and spacing without mortgaging the future. We'll see if this offseason will lead to a rebuild or restructure.
