Real Madrid legend Roberto Carlos has passed on some simple advice to Trent Alexander-Arnold ahead of the right-back completing his move to Spain.
The 26-year-old’s transfer to the Bernabeu was confirmed last week, with Liverpool set to receive up to $13.5 million as the Spanish giant bought out the final month of Alexander-Arnold’s contract in order for him to play in this summer’s Club World Cup.
Ahead of his first outings for his new club, the former Red has been acclimatizing to life in Spain after being spotted at the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona at the weekend, where he ran into Brazilian hero Carlos.
The former left-back greeted Alexander-Arnold warmly as the pair posed for the cameras, with Carlos passing on some light-hearted advice to Real’s newest recruit.
“You only need three words here,” Carlos told Alexander-Arnold. “Good morning, good night, and my friend… and that's it!”
Alexander-Arnold was at the Grand Prix along with the rest of the England squad, including new Real teammate Jude Bellingham and fellow Liverpool academy graduate Curtis Jones, ahead of the latest round of international fixtures.
The right-back could be set to play for the first time under new England boss Thomas Tuchel, having missed the German’s first games earlier this year, when the Three Lions face Andorra in a World Cup qualifier and Senegal in a friendly.

After that, Alexander-Arnold is due to link up with his new teammates at Real before jetting off to the United States for the start of the Club World Cup.
Los Blancos’ first game at the tournament is on June 18 when they face Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal.
From there, they then face Mexican club Pachuca on June 22, before a final group game against Red Bull Salzburg on June 26, with the knockout stages getting underway on June 28.
Liverpool has of course already found a replacement for Alexander-Arnold, with the signing of Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen being confirmed shortly after the England international's departure was announced.

"I’m playing for Liverpool, what more can I say?" Frimpong said of the move. "My whole family is excited for me, and my girlfriend [is]. So, I’m happy, blessed.
"I think it went quite easy. Liverpool came and said they had interest, and obviously for me it was a no-brainer. For me, it was like, ‘Whatever you guys do, just get this done’, [speaking to] my agents: ‘Just get this done.’ It went quite smoothly, there were no problems."
Frimpong added: "Playing with world-class players as a footballer is a great feeling, it’s a privilege, like, ‘I’m going to be next to Mo Salah.’ Not just him, the whole Liverpool squad.
"Just Liverpool in general, this is a privilege, a blessing that I can be part of it. But I can’t wait to link up with him – hopefully we link up well. I’m excited for these things, 100 percent."
