Brighton will face competition from Premier League rivals for the signature of Kyle Walker-Peters, sources have told Football Insider.

The Seagulls have stepped up their pursuit of the Southampton right-back, who is out of contract later this month and set to walk away as a free agent.

However, Brighton will not have a free run at Walker-Peters with competition expected before his departure is finalised.

It is believed a number of other Premier League clubs have also spoken with the England international about a potential free transfer.

Premier League clubs make Walker-Peters contact

The ex-Tottenham man was a regular starter for the Southampton side relegated with just 12 points in the 2024-25 campaign.

However, he is a consistent performer at Premier League level and has been a versatile presence for the Saints in recent years – playing both on the left and right side of the defence.

Walker-Peters made 35 appearances across all competitions this term but could not prevent Southampton’s relegation.

He has been with the Saints since joining on an initial loan in January 2020.

The two-cap England international has played 202 games for the south coast club – with 136 of those outings coming in the Premier League.

Brighton set stance on O’Riley exit

Meanwhile, Football Insider has revealed (2 June) that Brighton will make it difficult for Everton to seal a deal for midfield star Matt O’Riley this summer.

Everton boss David Moyes is a “big fan” of the Denmark international despite his low-key first season in the Premier League.

Brighton will demand to recoup their total investment on the midfielder – including the £25million fee they paid to land him just nine months ago.
