Manchester United's Andre Onana could be set for a move to Saudi Arabia this summer amid speculation of a lucrative transfer for captain Bruno Fernandes also circulating.

While Fernandes has been a standout performer, Onana has struggled to impress at Old Trafford, and his potential exit would likely not be met with such backlash as Fernandes' departure.

After two seasons with the Red Devils, the goalkeeper's string of errors has raised questions about his suitability as David de Gea's successor.

It is understood that Onana is in advanced negotiations with the newly-promoted Saudi Pro League club Neom SC, and United are reportedly open to letting him go. The Cameroonian was notably absent from the squad on the last day of the season against Aston Villa.

Onana was benched in favour of Altay Bayindir, seeing Ruben Amorim have to publicly support his keeper. Following a disappointing performance in Lyon, Onana was dropped for the defeat at Newcastle but made a return afterwards.

The keeper's contract is set to run until 2028, and a source close to the player stated: "Andre's plan is to stay in Manchester and he wants to knuckle down and get United back to where they should be.

"His sole focus is on United and nothing else. He's a confident person and wants to prove the doubters wrong. He knows he has made mistakes but he sees proving people wrong as a challenge."

It's said that Manchester United might swoop for Torino's Vanja Milinkovic-Savic. The Serbian goalkeeper, now 28, started his professional career at Old Trafford but left due to work-permit issues. His impressive ten clean sheets in Serie A have caught the attention of numerous clubs.

United may fund their squad overhaul with the big-money exit of Fernandes, who's considering leaving in a £100m move to Saudi club Al-Hilal. While Amorim is desperate to hold onto his captain, he acknowledged the uncertainty.

He said: "I just have that feeling. When you talk to someone, you have that feeling if he wants to stay. Of course in a lot of games this season he was so frustrated, but he knows what we are doing.

"The feeling that I have every time I speak to him is he wants to continue for sure at Man Utd. But you never know."
