Kirk Cousins Potential Destinations: How Multiple Teams Are Still In Play

The Falcons are still looking for a suitable trade partner for their $180 million quarterback, but they still cannot find the right suitor. The team is looking all around the league for the right team to take on Cousins' contract and a place where he could compete for the starting job.

In 2024, Cousins had his worst full season as a pro, leading the league in interceptions while only playing 14 games. Between rivals and AFC teams, multiple teams could be on the move to grab Cousins.

Pittsburgh Steelers

The main team that could trade for Cousins is the Steelers. They currently only have Mason Rudolph, Skylar Thompson and Will Howard competing for a starting gig and could utilize a veteran quarterback to start the season.

The Steelers recently traded for pro bowl wide receiver D.K. Metcalf and have a productive tight end in Pat Freiermuth. The Steelers have the weapons for Cousins and can make a trade before the season.

New Orleans Saints

With the recent retirement of Derek Carr, the uncertainty of the starting quarterback position is imminent. With little experience on the roster with Spencer Rattler, Jake Haener and Tyler Shough, the Saints do not have a quarterback win on the roster.

Cousins has been linked to this division rival for a few months, and it started picking up more after Carr's retirement. The Saints will be a team to look for, to potentially trade for Cousins.

Minnesota Vikings

A reunion with the Vikings is not the worst move for Cousins as he could be a veteran presence for J.J. McCarthy and Sam Howell. The Vikings would also be perfect for Cousins as he can reunite with his former coach and team and lead them to another winning season.

McCarthy missed all of 2024 with a torn meniscus and was looking to be the starter in 2025. That could be different if the Vikings make a move for Cousins.

Each of these teams could bring in the veteran presence of Cousins but it all has to do with how much of the salary they are willing to pay.
