Leeds United are back in the Premier League and will want to stamp their mark next season

Leeds United won the Championship title this past season under the guidance of Daniel Farke. The Whites have been promoted back to the Premier League along with Burnley and Sunderland, with Sheffield United missing out in the end. They will now be looking to carry their momentum into the next campaign.

It has been well documented that the step up to the top flight is only getting bigger. Therefore, the Yorkshire outfit need to ensure that they are ready for the improved quality. They have the chance to bring in some new signings to bolster their ranks this summer.

Leeds United eye Aston Villa’s attacking midfielder Emi Buendia

Buendia, 28, has fallen out of favour at Villa Park and a permanent change of scene would do him good. He has recently spent time away on loan from the Midlands at Bayer Leverkusen to get some game time under his belt. The once-capped Argentina international scored two goals in 14 games for the Bundesliga club under the guidance of Xabi Alonso, who has since left for Real Madrid.

If the Whites were to snap him up, he would add more competition and depth to their squad. He would give Farke another option to pick from in attack. He is also someone who knows the league already and has proved in the past that he can perform at the top level. Buendia is a player who Farke knows well and has managed to get the best out of previously. The pair crossed paths at Norwich City following his arrival in England back in 2018 from Getafe. He went on to become a key player for the Canaries and fired 24 goals in 121 games to earn a switch to Aston Villa.

Since joining his current club, he has found the net on 10 occasions in 97 outings. His career has hit a bit of a crossroads now though and Leeds would be an ideal next destination for him. The club are riding a wave right now and their supporters are in good spirits after their recent promotion.

Leeds United target Gustavo Hamer deal

Leeds could do with bringing in some more bodies to help deal with the tougher fixtures that are due to come their way in the next campaign. It is no secret that Gustavo Hamer is one of the most talented players in the Football League. Sheffield United will face a real battle to keep hold of him over the next couple of months following their play-off final loss to Sunderland at Wembley last month.

Hamer, 27, has been a consistent performer for the Blades since he moved to South Yorkshire in 2023 for £15million. He has scored 15 goals in 84 matches, 10 of which came last term. According to GiveMeSport, he is now on the Whites’ radar as they hunt for reinforcements.

Leeds could see Hamer as someone who is ready-made to return to the Premier League. He is unlikely to want to play in the second tier for another year and that means he could be on the market now. It would be a blow for Sheffield United to lose him, especially to a local rival, but there is an air of inevitability that he will move on soon for a new challenge.

The former Holland youth international made his name at Coventry City after they signed him in 2020. Prior to his move to the Sky Blues, he caught the eye at PEC Zwolle in the Eredivisie. He went on to fire 19 goals in 132 games during his time at the CBS Arena before the Blades got him and he may well secure himself another transfer in the near future if the Whites can get their man.
