Report: Liverpool now eyeing move to sign 'influential' star Arteta called 'extraordinary'

Liverpool boss Arne Slot could return to former club Feyenoord in the summer transfer window, according to reports - with Quentin Timber being in the Dutchman's sights as the transfer window continues to rumble on for the current Premier League champions.

The Reds have already confirmed the signing of Jeremie Frimpong and look to be closing in on a club-record move for Florian Wirtz, in what would be a double signing from Bayer Leverkusen - whilst Bournemouth star Milos Kerkez has also been linked with a move at left-back. And the spending may not stop there, with Timber now reportedly being eyed by the Reds despite suffering a lengthy injury in the winter months.

The 23-year-old, twin brother to Arsenal star Jurrien, has impressed for Feyenoord since joining them from Utrecht in 2022 - racking up 15 goals in 97 games for the Rotterdam-based side and making his Netherlands debut back in 2024.

Despite being out with a knee injury that ruled him out for the season back in February, interested clubs are expected to closely monitor his time on the sideline before committing to a final bid - and his performances before his injury have kept him in the spotlight, with Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta calling him 'extraordinary'.

Feyenoord are aware of various interest, and are currently in talks to extend his contract, which is due to run out next summer - but if any agreement can't be reached, they could be forced to sell in the coming months - which would tempt Liverpool.

It's thought that Feyenoord would be willing to listen to offers in the region of €25-30million (£21.1m-£25.5m) should he decline a new deal, and that hasn't deterred Liverpool from keeping tabs on his situation - especially if he makes a full recovery.

Crucially, Timber was signed by current Reds boss Slot as Feyenoord prised him from Utrecht, winning the Eredivisie in Timber's debut season - and that could hold some gravitas if it comes to deciding on a new club after leaving the Rotterdam-based side.

Liverpool's £110m offer for Florian Wirtz rejected by Bayer Leverkusen

According to reports, Liverpool have seen their mammoth €130 million (£110m/$148m) bid for Florian Wirtz rejected by Bayer Leverkusen. The Premier League champions are ready to smash their transfer record in order to bring the Germany international on board, with Wirtz favouring a summer switch to Anfield. However, according to Sport BILD, Leverkusen are demanding €150m (£127m/$171m) from any deal involving Wirtz with the German giants in no hurry to sanction a sale with their talisman tied to a contract through to 2027. However, the expectation is that a compromise will be reached with both teams looking to finalse a quick agreement.
