Arsenal legend Martin Keown has urged Manchester United to sack Ruben Amorim and appoint former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp as his replacement.
Amorim, 40, has endured a tricky start to life at Old Trafford and he has been linked with an early departure following the club’s 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final.
Man Utd ended the 2024-25 campaign down in 15th place in the English top flight table - their worst finishing position in the Premier League era - while Amorim’s win rate at the club stands at a measly 38.1%.
Although the ex-Sporting CP head coach is set to be backed in the transfer market this summer, Keown believes Man Utd should reach a shock agreement for Klopp to replace him in the Old Trafford dugout.
“The number of games that they’ve lost, I’m still concerned that this isn’t the right manager for Manchester United,” Keown told talkSPORT" href="https://talksport.com/football/3255528/premier-league-jurgen-klopp-next-man-united-manager-liverpool/" target="_blank">talkSPORT.

“It’s going to be a very interesting start to the season, they could do a lot worse than go and get Jurgen Klopp to manage their football club.
“I’m not trying to sensationalise but I believe that he might do an incredible job there, they need someone there with more experience than the current manager.
“Why not? He’s done it once before, we’re comparing their journey now, he’s done it once before but with a better foundation.”
Will Man Utd sack Ruben Amorim?
Although Keown believes Man Utd should sack Amorim this summer, the 40-year-old looks set to extend his stay with the Red Devils into next season.
The club have already announced the signing of Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha" href="https://www.footballtransfers.com/en/transfer-news/uk-premier-league/2025/06/man-utd-transfer-news-matheus-cunha-done-deal" target="_blank">The club have already announced the signing of Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha, while they are pushing to bring a new striker to Old Trafford in a bid to improve the squad at Amorim’s disposal.
Furthermore, Klopp would most likely reject a contract proposal from Man Utd due to his ties with Liverpool.
