The Philadelphia Eagles are going to have to grow used to being the hunted for the 2025 season. Already, a portion of the league attempted to ban the iconic tush-push play that Philly has dominated with over the past few seasons. Apparently, if you're unable to stop a play the next move is to attempt to ban it. The San Francisco 49ers were among the teams vocally getting in the way of Philly's defense of the play. This doesn't come as a surprise for a team that is obviously salty that the Eagles accomplished what they couldn't.

San Francisco has had two shots at taking down Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, falling flat both times. The Eagles knocking the 49ers out of the playoffs recently and managing to actually win a Super Bowl has left the franchise a bit salty. From the top, down to the San Francisco secondary, where Ji’Ayir Brown is still reliving what he appears to view as personal wins. The safety posted a video of his coverage against star Philly receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith.

San Francisco Remains Obviously Jealous of the Philadelphia Eagles' Success

It seems San Francisco is a wishful rival of the Eagles, while Philly must remain focused on the real threats. The 49ers are no longer considered among the top teams in the conference and appear to be trailing the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC West. Looking at the list of teams, the Eagles should be concerned about there is a long list before you begin to consider San Francisco.

A large piece of this is simply due to the fact that the Eagles match up perfectly with the 49ers, even if San Francisco is able to turn its recent struggles around. Among teams that are actually a bit of a threat, the Eagles should only be paying attention to the Detroit Lions, Washington Commanders, and the best team in the NFC West, the Los Angeles Rams.

It was the Rams that were the closest to blocking Philly's path to an eventual Super Bowl win. For the San Francisco safety, it is nice to see the veteran reliving what he views as personal wins. Especially considering the 49ers are unlikely to experience any meaningful wins as a team. It is a roster that has turned the corner and officially fumbled away its Super Bowl window.
