Chelsea reportedly 'open to offers' for £29m winger heavily linked with Newcastle United last…

**We know that Newcastle United's supposed 'priority target' this summer is Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo as Eddie Howe looks to add quality and depth to the right wing options.**

While things are still looking positive on the Mbeumo front, it's always worth keeping options open, which Newcastle have done this summer rather than repeating last year's blinkered chase of Marc Guehi.

Of course, this year is different with money to spend and several positions to fill, we're not likely to find ourselves in that kind of situation again.

Last summer, Newcastle were heavily linked with Chelsea's Noni Madueke as we toyed with adding another winger to our squad, expecting a sale of Miguel Almiron, which never came until January.

Noni Madueke broke into the England squad last season

Noni Madueke had us eating our words at the start of last season

----------------------------------------------------------------

We'd be lying if we said we were 100% in favour of a move for Madueke last summer, but we were soon proved wrong as the 23-year-old ended up having a stunning start to the campaign, scoring goals for fun and finding himself being selected for England.

Madueke's season tailed off with his seven Premier League goals coming in the first half of the season and only notching one assist after recovering from a hamstring injury in February.

Now, [The Guardian](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2025/jun/02/chelsea-weighing-up-50m-bid-for-borussia-dortmund-jamie-gittens) claim that Chelsea would be willing to listen to offers for Madueke this summer as they feel his progress has stalled.

Noni Madueke wouldn't be a bad option should the Bryan Mbeumo deal fall through

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Madeuke joined Chelsea for around £29 million in January 2023, but we suspect that figure will have increased significantly after a good season for the left-footed right-winger.

Whether he would cost as much as the £60 million it's expected to take to land Bryan Mbeumo, we're not sure, but we'd still rather have the Cameroonian over the Chelsea man.

However, Madueke wouldn't be such a bad second option, especially once Eddie Howe gets his magic mitts on him and gets his development back in gear again.
