Liverpool has already been tipped to defend its Premier League title next season as a deal for Florian Wirtz looks to be edging closer.
The Reds are in the process of negotiating with Bayer Leverkusen as the two sides try to come to an agreement over the German star’s move to Anfield. Wirtz, for his part, is said to have already decided he wants the move to Merseyside, although a deal hasn’t yet been finalized.
Liverpool is said to have had two bids turned down so far, although its hopes of landing the 22-year-old are still looking strong, with the possibility of a player moving in the opposite direction having been touted in order to sweeten the deal.
Having already signed Jeremie Frimpong shortly after Trent Alexander-Arnold’s move to Real Madrid was confirmed, and with Milos Kerkez being heavily linked with a switch to Anfield, the Reds are wasting little time in getting their business done ahead of next season’s title defense.
Arne Slot will be aiming for another memorable campaign after leading Liverpool to the Premier League crown in his very first season in charge, and with the likes of Wirtz, Frimpong and Kerkez potentially on board, the Reds are being backed to defend their title.
A supercomputer conducted by BettingLounge.co.uk has predicted that Liverpool will finish top of the pile once again next season, although it looks as though a much tighter race could be ahead.

The prediction for the 2025/26 season has the Reds on top with 82 points, two fewer than the tally they finished on in the 2024/25 campaign, although that is still enough to see them finish three points ahead of nearest challenger Manchester City, who finishes on 79 points.
The wait goes on for Arsenal and Mikel Arteta, with the Gunners predicted to finish third on 72 points - 10 points behind Liverpool.
Aston Villa, meanwhile, is tipped to claim the last spot in the top four, finishing just a point ahead of Newcastle United, with Chelsea dropping down to sixth after claiming fourth this season.

Brentford, Brighton, Crystal Palace and Bournemouth make up the rest of the top half of the table, with Nottingham Forest dropping down to 11th, with its new European commitments perhaps taking their toll.
Another poor season lies in wait for Manchester United and Tottenham, with the two sides predicted to finish 14th and 15th respectively, while Everton and Wolves just about manage to avoid relegation.
Once again, the three sides coming up from the Championship are tipped to go straight back down, with Sunderland finishing bottom on just 22 points, while Leeds sits 12 points ahead in 19th.
Burnley comes closest to avoiding the drop, finishing on 40 points - just a point behind Wolves in 17th - but Liverpool will be more than happy if the prediction comes true next season, with Wirtz hopefully making an impact on the title defense.
