Former Celtic winger Ben Doak reportedly could be set for a shock switch across Merseyside, with Everton reportedly eyeing a summer move for the 19-year-old Scotland international.
The Toffees, now under the leadership of David Moyes, are preparing for a major rebuild ahead of the 2025/26 campaign as they prepare to move into their new Bramley Dock stadium. As part of that rebuild, Sky Sports report that Moyes has identified Doak as a key target to inject pace and directness into his wide options.
Doak’s journey has been closely followed by Celtic fans since he left the Hoops for Liverpool in March 2022, aged just 16. Despite making a senior debut under Jurgen Klopp later that year, first-team opportunities have been limited for the winger at Anfield. He featured occasionally under Klopp and has yet to make an impact under new boss Arne Slot.
A potential move to Everton would be particularly eye-catching. Not only would it be a rare direct switch, but it would also be the first since Gary Ablett made the move from Anfield to Goodison back in 1992. If it goes through, it would be a significant moment for both Merseyside clubs—and another chapter in the development of a player once hailed as one of Celtic’s brightest young talents.
The winger’s stock rose during a loan spell at Middlesbrough in the Championship last season, where he impressed under Michael Carrick. However, a thigh injury requiring surgery cut his campaign short in early February, ruling him out for the remainder of the season.
Now back in recovery, Doak is reportedly valued around £25 million by Liverpool. Interest from Crystal Palace and Ipswich emerged in January, but the decision was made to keep him at Middlesbrough at the time.
A move to Everton would mark a bold switch given the fierce rivalry on Merseyside, but it would also represent a significant opportunity for the Ayrshire-born talent to cement himself in the English top flight.
For Celtic supporters, the potential transfer serves as another reminder of the academy’s ability to produce elite-level talent—even if their full potential is realised away from Glasgow’s East End.
