Reports: 20-goal attacker has now decided he wants to sign for Man Utd despite rival Premier League interest

Manchester United have agreed to sign Matheus Cunha and could now add another Premier League attacker to Ruben Amorim’s squad.

Sunday transfers are a rare sight, but Manchester United announced an agreement for Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

After weeks of speculation, United confirmed Cunha’s arrival in a big-money move, pending visa and international clearance.

Cunha provides an immediate boost to United’s attacking output, but Ruben Amorim needs more.

United mustered just 44 goals in 38 Premier League games and it’s clear that numbers in the final third are the top priority.

United held talks to sign Bryan Mbeumo last week and a move for the Brentford attacker appears to be on.

Bryan Mbeumo wants to sign for Manchester United

The Athletic’s David Ornstein now reports that Mbeumo has decided he wants a move to Old Trafford.

It’s claimed that United are now set to open talks with Brentford over a deal to sign Mbeumo.

Arsenal, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur are all understood to be keen on landing Mbeumo’s signature.

Yet, in a major sign of United’s pulling power, Mbeumo is understood to favour United over those clubs.

United may not have European football next season, but Mbeumo still wants to join Amorim’s project.

The Cameroon international hit 20 goals and seven assists in 38 league games for Brentford last season.

Still only 25, Mbeumo has proven himself in the Premier League and would be another major addition to United’s attacking ranks after landing Cunha.

United will move for Bryan Mbeumo regardless of Bruno Fernandes situation

Cunha and Mbeumo offer fine versatility in the sense that they will likely be viewed as number 10s in Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system, but could also play as strikers if needed.

Mbeumo won’t come cheap, and some will wonder whether his potential arrival means Bruno Fernandes is on his way out.

Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal want to sign Bruno, with United potentially tempted to cash in on the skipper.

However, reporter Ben Jacobs claims United intend to move for Mbeumo no matter what happens with Bruno.

Jacobs claims Mbeumo is one of United’s leading targets and will be eyed up for a move even if Bruno stays put.

The United captain is still weighing up a move to Saudi Arabia, but United aren’t hanging around – and could have a second major attacking addition sorted early in the window.
