Nephew of former Super Eagles star among two Nigerian midfielders listed for sale by Chelsea

Chelsea are open to selling Lesley Ugochukwu, the nephew of former Super Eagles, Onyekachi Apam, amid a clear-out ahead of the upcoming summer window.

Ugochukwu, who joined Chelsea in the summer of 2023, spent last season on loan at Southampton to gain consistent playing time and adapt to Premier League football.

During his loan spell, the young midfielder featured consistently for the Saints, featuring in 26 league matches, scoring one goal and providing one assist.

Despite his impressive display at the St. Mary's stadium, the Blues are reportedly considering letting him go, as they hope to reduce the size of the squad to raise funds for incomings.

According to the British newspaper, [The Guardian](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2025/jun/02/chelsea-weighing-up-50m-bid-for-borussia-dortmund-jamie-gittens), Ugochukwu is among about fourteen players the Blues are considering to sell to strengthen the club ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Also on the list is fellow Nigeria-eligible midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka, who spent last season on loan at Borussia Dortmund. The former Aston Villa midfielder impressed in the Bundesliga with his talent and skills.

Others on the list include Raheem Sterling, Noni Madueke, Trevoh Chalobah, Ben Chilwell, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Robert Sanchez, Djordje Petrovic, Renato Veiga, and Axel Disasi.

Ahead of the next campaign, Ugochukwu will hope to impress Enzo Maresca during the preseason and hope to cement his place in the Blues squad.
