Bryan Mbeumo: Brentford star wants United move

It's no secret that it's going to be a tough summer for Manchester United in terms of convincing players to join the club without any European football, but the attraction of Old Trafford still seems to remain.

Bryan Mbeumo plays a right wing role for Brentford and has already been a target for many clubs even though we are only two days into the window!

The Cameroonian has been at Brentford since the 2019/20 season and scored 20 goals and bagged 8 assists in 42 games last campaign.

This has caused the likes of Newcastle, Arsenal, Tottenham and Ruben Amorim's Man United to show interest in the player, but at one point it was looking like Mbeumo would side towards Champions League football instead of a move to Old Trafford.

According to reliable football journalist David Ornstein, 'Mbeumo decides he wants to join Man United and MUFC are expected to open talks with Brentford in a bid to sign the 25 year old this summer. The Cameroonian international favours Old Trafford if a deal is agreed"

Of course, there is still a long way to go in this process but signs are strong. It’s only June 2nd but United could soon add another new signing, having already acquired Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers. This is all with no European football to attract players!

If Mbeumo joins Man United, he would fit in on the opposite side to Cunha in the right attacking midfield role, which will give Amad Diallo the chance to flourish at right wing-back.

The Cameroonian would certainly be a statement signing if the deal goes through.

Something which makes both Cunha and potentially Mbeumo great signings is the fact they have Premier League experience, something where United may have gone wrong in regards to recent attacking signings like Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee from the Italian Serie A.

This first 'mini' transfer window ends on June 10th and then the main event is from June 16th. If all is done by then, United will be on a roll!

As said, there is still a long way to go but these are promising signs for Amorim's Reds.
