Tottenham ready to steal a march on Arsenal to sign exit-linked Bayern Munich attacker

Tottenham Hotspur are willing to pay more to beat rivals Arsenal to the signature of Bayern Munich forward Leroy Sane.

According to Sky Sports via TBR, Tottenham and Arenal are ready to battle it out for the services of Bayern Munich star Leroy Sane, who could soon become a free agent. Both North London clubs have him quite high on their wishlist but it seems Spurs are front-runners at this stage as they are willing to offer a more lucrative package to the German international.

Sane was a part of the Manchester City setup back in the day. He had a lot of success at the Manchester-based club before joining Bayern in the summer of 2020. He has only gone from strength to strength over the years and has been a key figure in the German club.

The 29-year-old was involved in a total of 45 matches across competitions during the 2024/25 season. He ended up contributing towards 19 goals (13 goals, 6 assists) in just over 2,300 first-team minutes. While he remains a key figure in their team, his game time has certainly gone down of late.

With his contract running out at the end of the month, his future has become a massive talking point. Sane could choose to walk away as a free agent and there is certainly no shortage of interest in him. Arsenal and Tottenham are both keen on signing him, while Bayern are hoping they can convince him to continue at the club.

Tottenham to win the race for Sane?

For now, it seems he is more inclined towards securing a return to the Premier League where both North London clubs are ready to battle for his signature. The Gunners are keen on adding more firepower to their attack. They want a new striker and more quality on the flanks.

Sane is a top target for them and their new sporting director, Andrea Berta is leading the charge for them. He is working hard to ensure they can secure his services. But Spurs have entered the race and they are currently leading the pursuit as they are willing to offer him a better financial package.

The Lilywhite are looking to add more quality on the flanks after securing a Champions League spot and Sane could certainly be a great acquisition for them. His ability to feature on either flank could come in handy.

While Arsenal have made Sane’s agent, Pini Zahavi, aware of their interest, he has been able to negotiate a significantly higher package with their rivals. More importantly, they are ready to offer him a starting spot in the team and a deal until 2029, helping them steal a march of the Gunners.
