Detroit Lions star shockingly retires

The Detroit Lions had a stellar season in 2025, winning the NFC North en route to the number one overall seed in the conference. Unfortunately, the Lions’ season ended with a shocking loss to the Washington Commanders in the divisional round in their first game of the playoffs.

The Lions are looking to get back to the postseason and make the deep run that they expected last season, but they’ll have to replace some key pieces of the coaching staff.

Offensive coordinator Ben Johnson signed on as the head coach of the Chicago Bears, with Aaron Glenn accepting the same role with the New York Jets. Now, the Lions have another major contributor to replace from last season.

“Sources:#Lions All-Pro and Pro Bowl center Frank Ragnow, one of the game’s best, has informed the team he plans to retire. A stellar career comes to a close,” reported NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Ragnow gave his official announcement via Instagram.

“These past couple of months have been very trying as I’ve come to the realization that my football journey is ending and I’m officially retiring from the NFL. I’ve tried to convince myself that I’m feeling good but I’m not and it’s time to prioritize my health and my families future.

“I have given this team everything I have and I thought I had more to give, but the reality is I simply don’t. I have to listen to my body and this has been one of the hardest decisions of my life.

“The Lions organization has been absolutely incredible throughout this process and I can’t emphasize this enough how grateful I am for this team and all the fans. It was an absolute honor going to battle for you all.

Hopefully, Ragnow enjoys the next chapter of his life.
