These over-30s German strikers are a bit like buses, aren’t they?
I was going to continue by saying you wait around all day for one and then two arrive at once — but they’re also big, slow, and unreasonably expensive!
Which brings us on to West Ham’s latest [transfer](https://www.claretandhugh.info/west-ham-transfer-news/) pick of the day: Hamburg striker David (or Davie) Selke.
The 30-year-old, standing at 6ft 5, is out of contract this month and shows no sign of penning an extension. Instead, the towering former RB Leipzig forward is reportedly holding out for a big payday and the riches that come with a free transfer.
The German is believed to be in high demand, with both Fulham and Leeds United leading the chase for the hitman, who scored an impressive 22 goals in 31 Bundesliga games last season.
But honestly — are West Ham really going to pay inflated wages to sign another ageing striker when we’re supposedly trying to lower the average age of the squad?
I sincerely hope not. . . after all, The Hammers already have a perfectly serviceable big German striker in the form of Niclas Fullkrug.
