Shedeur Sanders had an unprecedented fall to the fifth round in the 2025 NFL draft after being projected to be taken in one of the first 10 picks. Sanders was eventually selected by the Cleveland Browns with the 144th pick.
Reports came out that Sanders showed up to his meetings with teams during the pre-draft process with his headphones in, and the reports may have contributed to his slide.
Now, Sanders’ father, Deion Sanders, is sounding off about the reports.
“When you sit up there and say something like he went into a meeting unprepared, like, dude,” he said, according to Next Impulse Sports. “Shedeur Sanders? Who has had six different [offensive] coordinators, who has still functioned and leveled up every time we brought somebody new in, and you’re going to tell me he was unprepared?
“You’re going to tell me he had on headphones? Anybody who knows my son understands he’s a professional. He’s going to go into a meeting with headphones on? Y’all, come on now.”
Fans reacted to Sanders’ words on social media.
“Shedeur fell epically in the draft and his other son didn’t get drafted. The scouts saw the tape and not deions biased opinion,” one person wrote on Twitter.
“Going to be a lot of backtracking if Shedeur can earn the starting spot,” someone else added.
It’ll be interesting to see what sort of career Shedeur goes on to have.
