Eagles' Biggest NFC Threat Just Lost Beloved Starter to Retirement

The [Philadelphia Eagles](https://section215.com/failed-eagle-signing-with-new-team-after-release-last-month-01jwrmf7cx7t) know will be getting everyone's best punch in 2025. That comes with the territory after winning the Super Bowl.

Everyone is looking to play catch-up up and one of the Eagles' biggest threats in the NFC was hit with a massive loss for the 2025 season and beyond.

On Monday, Detroit Lions center Frank Ragnow announced that he's retiring. NFL Network's Mike Garafolo revealed that the Lions have rookie Tate Ratledge and veteran Graham Glasgow taking some reps at center.

Frank Ragnow Announced That He’s Retiring From the NFL

------------------------------------------------------

Ragnow was drafted in the first round of the 2018 NFL draft by the Lions and developed into one of the best players at his position. He was a four-time Pro-Bowler with three second-team All-Pro nods.

The Lions' offensive line is one of the best units in the league, and Ragnow's presence certainly made them a better unit. He was an athletic mover upfront and thrived in moving defenders in the run game.

With Ben Johnson no longer the OC in the Motor City and Ragnow stepping away from the game, the Lions have some big shoes to fill this offseason. Ragnow was typically the player along the offensive line who called out certain blitzes and protections.

They may be forced to rely on some rookies (Ratledge or Miles Frazier) or a veteran in Glasgow. Whoever ends up winning that competition will have their hands full and may not be able to be as effective as Ragnow was.

Lions WR Amon Ra St-Brown was pushing for Detroit to open up the season against the Eagles on the road, but the NFL didn't make that happen. Instead, the Lions will travel to play Philly in Week 16 in a Sunday Night Football showdown.

Jalen Carter will be licking his lips in that contest, as he no longer needs to go up against a Pro Bowl center.
