Nicolas Cage is Nearly Unrecognizable as NFL Legend John Madden on 'Madden' Biopic Set in Atlanta
The 61-year-old Oscar-winning actor was nearly unrecognizable as NFL legend John Madden as he arrived on set to film scenes for the upcoming Madden biopic on Monday morning (June 2) in Atlanta, Georgia.
For his time on set, Nicolas sported a blue tracksuit over a white button-up shirt while wearing a light-brunette wig.
Madden was the head coach of the Oakland Raiders in the 1970s and led the team to numerous championships and its first Super Bowl win in 1976. After retiring in 1979, Madden became a mainstay in football coverage as he worked as a commentator for more than three decades. He announced his retirement as a broadcaster in 2009 and died in 2021 at the age of 85.
He is also the namesake for the fan-favorite Madden video game.
Christian Bale also stars in the movie, which is being directed by David O. Russell, as Al Davis, who was Madden‘s close friend and former owner of the Raiders. Davis died in October 2011 at the age of 82.
